Peppers - Oil on Panel, 8 x 10 Inches
This painting surprised me. The work of the painter is to paint exactly what is seen and to override preconceptions of what the subject is supposed to look like. As I painted these peppers, that really hit home. I resisted many of the colors and shapes in this subject, but I painted what I saw, and when I backed up to look from a new perspective the peppers magically emerged from the squiggles of green, black and white.
