To the Monument - Acrylic on Canvas, 20 x 16 Inches

I knew a woman when I was a teenager who told me a story of hiking with her father on the day he died. When they reached the peak, he stood looking out and said, “Well, it looks like we’ve reached the end of the road.” He died peacefully in his sleep that night.

This painting is of a place I go to over and over. It is beaten by the weather and has the tiniest plants. Just beyond these rocks is a view out towards the Pacific Ocean. But this painting reminds me of that story about reaching the end of the road.
