You Are Wind - Oil on Canvas, 12 × 36 Inches

Done in the studio from photographs taken at Point Colville on Lopez Island, my original focus was on the form of the tree, created by its life of exposure to wind and storms.

Yet as the work progressed, I began to see how the angles of land, tree and clouds converged and repeated. This was not a conscious part of the design, but it spoke to me of the painting’s real message; there is resonance between us and all that is around us. This painting hits like a personal memory, or something even deeper.
